3. Health Data
Symptive reads health and fitness data from your device's native health platform to help you track and understand your menopause journey. Each platform operates independently — health data read on one platform is never transferred to or accessible from the other platform.
3.1 On Android (Health Connect)
On Android devices, Symptive integrates with Google Health Connect to read the following data types with read-only access:
- Menstrual Cycle (period dates and flow levels) — Irregular or changing periods are a key indicator of menopausal transition. Symptive uses this data to help you track cycle changes and identify what stage of menopause you may be in.
- Sleep (sleep sessions, duration, and stages) — Sleep disturbance is one of the most common menopause symptoms. Symptive uses this data to help you monitor sleep patterns and correlate them with hormonal changes.
- Exercise (workout type and duration) — Exercise helps manage mood changes, weight gain, and hot flashes during menopause. Symptive uses this data to show how physical activity affects your symptoms.
- Heart Rate (heart rate readings) — Palpitations and elevated heart rate are common during menopause. Symptive uses this data to help you detect patterns related to hormonal shifts.
- Steps (daily step count) — Activity levels directly affect menopause symptom severity. Symptive uses this data to provide insight into your daily movement patterns.
- Weight (body weight measurements) — Hormonal changes during menopause commonly cause weight fluctuations. Symptive uses this data to help you identify weight trends related to your transition.
3.2 On iOS (Apple Health)
On iOS devices, Symptive integrates with Apple Health to read the same data types listed above with read-only access: Menstrual Cycle, Sleep, Exercise, Heart Rate, Steps, and Weight.
3.3 Platform Independence
Health Connect and Apple Health operate independently. Health data read on one platform is never transferred to or accessible from the other platform. Symptive does not sync, bridge, or share health data between Android and iOS devices.
3.4 How We Handle Your Health Data
- Read-only access: Symptive only reads data from your device's health platform. We never write to, modify, or delete your health data.
- On-device processing: Health data is processed locally on your device to generate insights, charts, and correlations within the App.
- No third-party sharing: We do not share, sell, or transfer your health data to any third party, including advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers.
- No advertising use: Your health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or any purpose unrelated to providing health insights within the App.
- Data retention: Health data is retained only as long as your account is active and is deleted when you delete your account. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us at support@symptive.com.
- Revoking access: You can revoke Symptive's access to your device's health platform at any time through your device's settings. Revoking access will stop future data reading but will not delete data already stored in the App.
Symptive is not a medical device. Data in the App does not replace consultation with a healthcare professional.
4. Sharing Your Information
We may share your information only in these cases:
- Service providers: Trusted vendors that help us operate (e.g., cloud hosting)
- Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Business transfers: If we merge, sell, or restructure, your data may be part of the transferred assets
We do not share your data with advertisers.
